Kunta Kinteh Island formerly called James Island and St Andrews Island is an island in the river Gambia. Here you will see historic remnants of the slave era. It includes Guns, Batteries and dungeons all set amid some old baobab trees. Kunta Kinteh Island was awarded a World Heritage Site in 2003. Hundreds of
thousands of slaves departed here for the new world. To visit this island we would take a boat from Banjul to Barra. This would be a 1 day trip.
