SOS Children’s Village, This is approx. 18 km from Banjul in Bakoteh. It is a place that supports children. SOS provides day-care, education, and medical services. It is a vocational training center. Their aim is to support existing family ties and help children who are at risk of losing parental care to grow up in a family of their own.

Hart House School for disabled children is a school for disabled children. There are 26 or so children who attend this school. They go on Monday morning and stay until Friday. It has been open since 2001. It was opened by Geoff Hunwicks a British National and his wife. There is no charge for the children to attend and it relies on supporters who donate money. It is a purpose-built house completed in 2002. The school is well worth a visit the children are always pleased to see visitors.
